A grid is inherently a simple form; it is the base upon which architects, city planners, artists and countless others map and build their creations. This week's photos transposed the concept of the grid onto everyday scenes. The interpretations we received included a diver facing the grid of tile at the bottom of a swimming pool and a traveler framed against the grid of an airport window. A long time ago — well, last Friday — the White House struck down a petition for a real Death Star on its We the People site.
